Wreath Making At Home

One of my favourite things in the lead up to Christmas is having a few friends over and making some wreaths over a glass of mulled wine and mince pies. I always envisage this takes place in front of a roaring fire, but the reality is that it is just so much more practical at the kitchen table. Anyway it doesn’t matter where it happens it is just so nice doing it with friends and having a good catch up.

We tend to make our own wreaths using Cornus, but I’ve included a few options below of some eco friendly options from local shops that you could use instead.

Eco friendly options:

Rose and Ammi Flowers

 The Old Barn

In terms of what greenery to collect, we’ve put together a list of some of the foliage that we pull together for local florists. This will at least get you started, but be careful where you cut it from – always ask permission.

Collecting foliage:

  • Noble Fir, Western Cedar, Redwood

  • Common Ivy

  • Soft Holly

  • Variegated holly (where possible holly will be berried but this depends on availability)

  • Buxus, rhododendron, or bay laurel.

  • 20 stems choice specimen conifers cut from the garden with different colours, textures, and cones, depending on availability

Let us know how you get on.
