Local Outing Ideas
An Autumn Day Out
We love autumn. Its such an amazing time of year around here and the weather is still safe enough to do lots of activities outside. We’ve put together a suggested day trip for people with families with children between 8-12 years old.
Suggested Accommodation: The Garden Bothy or Stables South
Company Bakery
What better way to start that day than with a coffee and a pastry. We have got in a bad habit of heading to Company Bakery at the weekends, and we kid you not, their Cinnamon Buns are AMAZING! Delicious coffee and your off to a good start.
You could also pick up some sandwiches for lunch here as it always you to keep moving with the rest of the day.
John Muir Alpacas
Head down the A1 to Jon Muir Alpaca Park. A slightly unusual activity, but great fun. The team there have about 30 alpacas and each has a quirky name to match their personality. Children are given the chance to lead them around and feed them. Signage is a bit tricky so leave plenty of time and take your own food as they don’t provide any.
Tyningham Beach
If you haven’t had lunch yet then it is worth picking something up at the café in Tyningham village. Either sit in or grab something and head to the beach for a picnic and a lovely walk. The beach is beautiful and you can happily spend many hours here relaxing and blowing the cobwebs away. There is a short walk through some picturesque woodland before you get to the beach.
The Leddie
Finally, head to the newly opened hotel and restaurant, The Leddie, for an early supper or drink. We have recently tried this and they’ve done a really good job of the renovation. Sleek interior, and a great menu, it was a great addition to the coast and I am sure will become very popular.
Once you’ve wined and dined head back along the coast road to take in as much of the sea air as possible before heading back to Preston Hall for a lovely evening in front of the fire.
