August Catch Up

What We’ve Been Up To And What’s Coming

The Stables South - Holiday Let

We thought it was about time that we gave you a little update on what we’ve been up to here.

August was a great month with new and familiar faces coming to visit us in the Walled Garden. Lots of people we’re able to meet Kate, our new Head Gardener, and we hope you will read her first blog post and going forward she will be doing a monthly one sharing some of her knowledge. This year’s additions of a Common Coffee Café (one of the businesses based up at Rosemains Steading), a climbing frame and some workshops was a big success, so we hope to grow on that in the future.

We wanted to introduce our newest holiday let, The Stables South. To launch it we have a very exciting giveaway of a ‘2 night stay’. In order to be in for a chance of winning you just need to sign up to our newsletter and on 5th October we will announce the winner. What a prize! We will try and do a full blog post on this soon.

Obviously we can’t do an update without mentioning farming, as it is a big part of what we do here. Harvest this year has been very different to last year, when we were battling with the weather attempting to harvest crops in between rain showers. In comparison this year seems to be flying by in record time with relative simplicity. Phew!

Looking ahead to October, we will be opening the gardens once more for the weekend of 15th and 16th October where we will be doing ‘Apple Pressing’. A full on family weekend we hope to see as many of your there as possible. The café will once again be open and we encourage people to bring their apples along to press themselves, plus we may even manage to persuade our resident brewer, Kerr’s Brewery, to bring along some samples of beer.

Hope to see as many of your there as possible.
