Introducing Kate

Our Newest Member Of The Team - Kate Danesh

So we have been keeping a little secret since Autumn 2021…

This is Kate, our new Senior Gardener who oversees The Walled Garden and Flower Garden.

Kate is a botanically trained horticulturist and educator. She has always loved growing plants, which is what lead her to study for a BSC. (Hons.) in Plantmanship at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

After graduating from RBGE she spent a few years working in agricultural research before working as a gardener at RZSS Edinburgh Zoo. Kate wrote articles there for both internal and external publications and found it both a fascinating and a rewarding job. After this she returned to RBGE to work in their Education department to deliver both undergraduate and RHS Level Two materials to adult learners.

What Kate really enjoys is the creation of beautiful, sustainable, and immersive gardens that draw on naturally occurring plant communities for inspiration. When she’s not at Preston Hall she can often be found her my own garden by the sea, where she like to experiment with what it is possible to grow in coastal Scotland.
